Supporting our community
As well as sitting on external investment committees for a number of not-for-profits, every year we select a new community organisation to support – by a process of staff nomination. Over the years we have made positive contributions to a variety of organisations that are important to us, including: John Fawcett Foundation, Scope, UNHCR, Monash Health Foundation, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Berry Street.
headspace
This year the recipient of our support is headspace, a National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services and assistance to promoting young peoples’ wellbeing for 12-25 year olds and their families across Australia. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. headspace undertakes a range of activities to increase the awareness of their services and how to access them among young people, their families, friends and the broader community through headspace centres, or through eheadspace (telephone and online). To date, over 355,000 young people have sought help through their centres and eheadspace. 60% of these young people have shown significant improvement after seeking support from headspace and in total, headspace has provided almost 2 million services to young people either face to face, online or over the phone.
